Putin to Arrive in India: Major Breakthroughs Expected on S-400, S-500 and SU-57 Deals

New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin’s two-day visit to India begins today. The high-profile visit is expected to pave the way for significant progress on two major defence agreements that could redefine the strategic partnership between the two nations.

According to sources, the first major focus of discussions will be on the air defence systems S-400 and its advanced version, the S-500. While India has already signed a deal for the S-400 system, potential cooperation on the S-500—considered one of the most advanced long-range missile defence systems—is being viewed by defence experts as strategically crucial.

The second major proposal expected to be discussed involves the cutting-edge SU-57 fighter jet. Reports suggest that Russia is keen to offer this stealth aircraft to India along with a Transfer of Technology (ToT) package. If negotiations move forward, the deal could significantly boost the capabilities of the Indian Air Force.

Putin’s visit is being seen as an opportunity to infuse new momentum into India-Russia strategic ties. Key decisions in defence, technology, energy, and geopolitical cooperation are anticipated during the visit.

All eyes are now on the high-level talks between the leadership of both nations, as this trip could mark the beginning of a new chapter in India–Russia defence cooperation.
