Rain and Thunderstorm Likely in 11 Districts of Eastern Madhya Pradesh Today, Heatwave Alert for April 16–17

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is currently experiencing mixed weather conditions. While intense heat persists across many regions, several districts are also witnessing spells of rain and hailstorms. On Sunday, large parts of the state saw strong winds, cloud cover, rain, lightning, and hail. Similar weather is expected today as well. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain and thunderstorms in 11 districts of eastern Madhya Pradesh on Monday. These include Rewa, Satna, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Panna, Maihar, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, and Anuppur.

After this, the weather is expected to clear up, and temperatures will begin to rise significantly. A heatwave alert has been issued for several districts on April 16 and 17.

According to the IMD, the cyclonic circulation system caused the rain and hail across many areas on Sunday. The department stated that temperatures will not rise much over the next 24 hours, but a noticeable increase will follow. While light rain may occur in some places today, starting April 16, a heatwave will likely affect the state—particularly the Gwalior, Chambal, and Indore divisions. The alert extends through April 17 as well.

On Sunday, Maheshwar in Khargone witnessed heavy rain and hailstorms, while Satna experienced two hours of strong winds and rain. Meanwhile, temperatures in many districts crossed 40°C. Narmadapuram recorded 40.2°C, Khandwa and Dhar at 40.1°C, and Khargone and Narsinghpur hit 40°C. Shajapur recorded 39.7°C, Ratlam 39.5°C, and Guna 39°C.

Among major cities:

Bhopal recorded 38.8°C

Indore: 38.6°C

Gwalior: 36°C

Ujjain: 38.5°C

Jabalpur: 37.4°C

The lowest temperature was recorded in Pachmarhi at 32.8°C, while Nowgaon recorded 34°C, and Rewa and Sidhi both logged 34.6°C.
