Self-Respecting Women of Bihar Stand with NDA, Says Smriti Irani; Slams RJD for Anti-Women Attitude

Patna: Former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Smriti Irani on Tuesday said that the credit for bringing Bihar’s self-respecting women into the mainstream goes to the NDA government. Addressing a press conference in Patna, Irani highlighted the Modi government’s initiatives for women’s empowerment and accused the RJD of being against women’s economic independence.
“I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for economically empowering the women of Bihar through the Jan Dhan Yojana,” Irani said. “The Prime Minister’s commitment has always been that every rupee from the nation’s treasury should directly reach the beneficiaries,” she added.
Irani pointed out that under the double-engine government, several welfare initiatives have been implemented — construction of toilets for women’s safety, provision of LPG gas cylinders to free poor women from smoky kitchens, and support for small-scale businesses run by women.
She further stated that over 11 lakh women’s self-help groups have been strengthened, and the government has directly transferred ₹10,000 into their accounts. In addition, the Centre’s decision to provide 33% reservation for women marks a historic step toward gender equality.
“The NDA government has freed Bihar from the clutches of crime and has empowered its women,” Irani said. “Now it is time for Bihar to move forward once again with pride under the NDA’s leadership.”
Attacking the opposition, Irani alleged that RJD leaders have written to the Election Commission demanding that the financial assistance being provided to women be stopped.
“This is deeply painful,” she said. “I strongly oppose RJD’s regressive proposal and salute all the women of Bihar for their strength and self-respect.”
Taking a direct jab at Tejashwi Yadav, Irani remarked, “The women Tejashwi Yadav is talking about helping are being underestimated by him. Bihar’s women have awakened; they will no longer fall for RJD’s hollow promises.”
Expressing confidence, she said that the women of Bihar stand firmly with the NDA, and in the upcoming elections, the double-engine government will once again earn the people’s trust and mandate.
