Serious threat to livelihood of hundreds of journalists due to non-payment of salary, NUJ (I) expressed deep concern
New Delhi /Noida: Media personnel working in the highly reputed Sahara Media across the country are facing serious threat to their livelihood due to non-payment of salary for months. Hundreds of media personnel of Sahara have requested for immediate payment of salary to those working in the institute on the negligence and irresponsible attitude of the management and protested peacefully. Many media persons participated in this protest. Expressing concern over this entire incident, National President of National Union of Journalists (India) Ras Bihari said Sahara Media Group should immediately settle the salary payment in an effective manner, and also provide a better environment to the scribes to work freely. NUJ (I) President Ras Bihari said that journalists complete their work firmly even in difficult circumstances. In such a situation, stopping their salary is not justified.
Newly elected President of Delhi Journalist Association Rakesh Thapliyal said that making journalists work in any institute and not paying salary or wages is very sad and condemnable. I have raised my voice for Sahara workers on public platform earlier also. All should be paid their due salary immediately. General Secretary, DJA Pramod Kumar Singh has also expressed dissatisfaction over the condition of the affected journalists and has also expected positive cooperation from the owner management in this direction. Regarding the peaceful silent protest by the management, a representative working in Sahara Media Organisation told that his family is facing financial crisis due to non-payment of salary on time for months. In such a situation, there is a demand from the management that the dues and allowances of all the journalists associated with the organization should be paid.
