Shyam Lal College to host National Academic Conference on 16-17 January

New Delhi: Shyam Lal College, University of Delhi will host a National Academic Conference on 16-17 January 2026. The conference is being organised by the Sarasvati IKS Centre and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell in collaboration with the Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The conference is themed “Bharatiya Bhasha Pariwar: Sanskriti Se Samvaad- Bharatiya Bhasha and Cultural Heritage.” The event aims to highlight the central role of Indian languages in preserving cultural continuity, intellectual traditions, and civilisational values, while encouraging meaningful scholarly engagement with their contemporary relevance.
The Principal of Shyam Lal College, Prof. Rabi Narayan Kar, stated that Indian languages are not merely tools of communication but are carriers of India’s collective wisdom, cultural memory, and ethical values. He emphasised that the conference aligns closely with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which advocates the promotion of mother tongues, multilingualism, and Indian Knowledge Systems in higher education.
Prof. Kusha Tiwari, Director of the Sarasvati IKS Centre & IQAC, noted that the conference will provide a vibrant academic platform to connect India’s linguistic heritage with present-day scholarship. She added that the event will encourage interdisciplinary perspectives and foster new dialogues across the fields of education, research, and culture.
The Conference Convenor, Dr. Seema Guglani, informed that the two-day national conference will witness participation from scholars, researchers, language experts, and cultural studies specialists from across the country. The programme will feature keynote addresses, technical sessions, and research paper presentations, facilitating in-depth discussions on various dimensions of Indian languages and cultural heritage.
