‘Sikandar’ Faces Sharp Drop in Box Office Collection, Misses ₹100 Crore Mark
Mumbai: Salman Khan’s much-anticipated film ‘Sikandar’ seems to be struggling at the box office despite high expectations. Even after seven days of its release, the film has not entered the ₹100 crore club, raising concerns about its performance and labeling it a potential flop.
This film marked Salman Khan’s return to the big screen after a gap of 1.5 years, and fans were hopeful it would open to a roaring start. However, ‘Sikandar’ managed only ₹26 crore on its opening day, a modest figure considering the superstar’s fan base and wide release across India.
Even the Eid festival, typically a strong box office period for Salman, didn’t give the film the desired boost. On Eid day, the film collected ₹29 crore, but the numbers dropped significantly in the following days — ₹19.5 crore on Day 3, ₹9.75 crore on Day 4, ₹6 crore on Day 5, and ₹3.75 crore on Day 7.
With a total of ₹97.50 crore at the end of its first week, ‘Sikandar’ is yet to recover even half of its production cost, making its commercial prospects bleak. In contrast, Salman’s previous release ‘Tiger 3’ had already crossed ₹219.4 crore by its seventh day.
Starring Salman Khan, Rashmika Mandanna, Prateik Babbar (son of late actress Smita Patil), Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Kishore, and Sanjay Kapoor, the film has been directed by acclaimed filmmaker AR Murugadoss. Despite the star-studded cast and high production values, the film’s underwhelming performance is seen as a major setback for Salman Khan.
