Supreme Court Counsel Savendra Singh made these allegations against some officials of the Airport Authority
New Delhi. : The Central Government is successfully moving forward with Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikas, but when some departments of the same government keep aside the rules to fulfill their personal interests, then discrepancies come to the fore. Supreme Court Counsel Shri Sarvendra Singh said in a press conference held at Himachal Bhawan, New Delhi.
He said that it has come to my knowledge that the Airport Authority of India has recently decided to go ahead with the tender process for an XBIS machine with a company whose machines have a history of catching fire. As an example, I would like to mention that there was a fire in the XBIS machine at Indore Airport in July 2023. Some officials are in a mood to recently decide to award the contract through tender to the same company whose machine caught fire.
In response to a question, Mr. Savendra Singh said that the own supervisor of the Airport Authority of India had complained through email about the non-functioning of the machine of this company, but no investigation was done by the concerned authorities. Attention was drawn to this by the Supervisor of Indore Airport of Airport Authority of India on March 6, March 11 and March 21, 2024. There were even lapses in security checks. But, this is not being paid attention to.
Counsel Shri Savendra Singh told in the Supreme Court that the Airport Authority has to supply more than 700 machines at 102 airports and some companies have been excluded from the tender on the pretext of not having GST numbers. According to the information received, Vehanta Technology has been allowed to move ahead, even though their machines had failed twice during their technical evaluation.
Counsel in the Supreme Court Shri Savendra Singh said that contrary to Prime Minister Shri Modi’s vision of a developed India, some officials are arbitrarily engaged in such activities that they are trying to drive those foreign companies out of India. Some companies also want to invest in India, but due to their selfishness some officials are not allowing this to happen.Explosive items, drugs, narcotics, and security related items are identified through these machines at all airports. In such a situation, even a small mistake can cost the country dearly. In the press conference, Mr. Savendra Singh demanded that the Civil Aviation Ministry should take cognizance of this matter. This mess happening within the Airport Authority should be resolved.
