Suruchi, Jaypal shine in 10m Air Pistol T1 Finals

New Delhi : World Cup Finals winner Suruchi and Madhya Pradesh’s Jaypal Malviya emerged as the standout performers, claiming top honours in the women’s and men’s 10m Air Pistol T1 finals respectively, at the National Selection Trials 1&2 Group A, which is currently underway at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range here.
Suruchi tops final to win 10m Air Pistol Women (Trial 1)
After finishing second in qualification with 580-20x, Suruchi raised her level in the final to emerge on top, shooting 242.4 to claim first place in the 10m Air Pistol Women Trial 1 final. Chandigarh’s Sainyam, who topped the qualification round with 581-16x, continued her consistent run but had to settle for second place, finishing 2.6 points behind the winner.
Delhi’s Meenu Pathak secured third place with 218.4, backing up her fourth-place qualification score of 577-18x. Tejaswani, who had qualified eighth with 575-14x, finished fourth on 197.5.
Olympian Rahi Sarnobat ended the final in fifth place with 177.1 after qualifying with 579-18x. Karnataka’s Divya T.S finished sixth with 156.5 (576-23x), while Priya Muralidhar placed seventh with 133.3 after qualifying with 576-16x. Olympian Esha Singh, who had qualified seventh with 575-19x, did not start the final.
Jaypal Malviya clinches gold in 10m Air Pistol Men (Trial 1)
Earlier in the day, Madhya Pradesh’s Jaypal Malviya produced an assured performance in the final to secure first place in the 10m Air Pistol Men Trial 1 event. Malviya, who had qualified seventh with 582-23x, showed marked improvement in the final to finish on top with 245.6, ending 2.4 points ahead of Uttar Pradesh’s Gaurav. Gaurav, who was also second in the qualification round with 584-24x, claimed the silver medal.
Haryana’s Parmod took third place with 221.4 in the final after qualifying sixth on 582-25x. Junior National Champion Jonathan Gavin Antony, who had topped the qualification round with 587-21x, concluded the final in seventh place with 137.8.
Rajasthan’s Yogesh Kumar finished fourth with 202.5, while Navy shooter Ujjawal Malik placed fifth with 180.3. Army marksman Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve ended sixth with 157.7. World Champion Samrat Rana, who had qualified fourth with 583-17x, did not start the final.
