Tata Power-DDL Champions Solar Awareness through “Samavesh 2026”

 

New Delhi : Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and community empowerment, organized “Samavesh: Carnival of Women Solar Customers – 2026” at MR Global School, Bawana, Outer Delhi. The event recognized and celebrated the inspiring contribution of women in promoting rooftop solar adoption under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 350 women representing above 30 villages across Tata Power-DDL’s rural belt, marking a significant step toward grassroots clean energy adoption.

The program was chaired by Mr. Rahul Kumar, General Manager, Tata Power-DDL, and was graced by eminent dignitaries including Ms. Anju Aman Dabas, Councillor (Pooth Khurd Village); Ms. Fiza, daughter of Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Mr. Ravinder Inderaj Singh; Ms. Rekha Sinha, Former Councillor, Jharoda Burari; Ms. Ruchika Rana, Principal, MR Global School; Ms. Chandrika, Head of Brahma Kumaris, North-West Delhi; Ms. Jyoti Kaur, celebrity dancer and choreographer; and Dr. Deepaka Kataria (MBBS, MD – Community Medicine), among others. The event was also attended by Mr. Vinod Sehrawat, President, Kisan Morcha Delhi; Mr. Satywan Sehrawat, Krishi Ratan awardee and renowned organic farmer; Mr. Ravi Sehrawat, Chairman, MRGS; and officials of Tata Power-DDL.

Celebrating the spirit of Navratri and the International Women’s Day month, Tata Power-DDL honored over 125 women solar customers and achievers of many fields for their contribution to advancing sustainable energy. Apart from these, over 250 women took an oath to further strengthen awareness and outreach for solar initiatives in their respective villages.

Additionally, 70 girls and women achievers at state and national levels were felicitated for their outstanding contributions across diverse domains such as sports, education, health, yoga, social welfare, and energy conservation, highlighting the broader impact of women-led progress.

The event also featured engaging solar awareness sessions and interactive competitions—including drawing, races, and cultural performances—focused on women empowerment and clean energy awareness. Around 150 additional participants actively engaged in these activities, further strengthening community involvement.

The event concluded on a celebratory note, with Tata Power-DDL expressing gratitude to all participants, community leaders, youth, and local representatives. The initiative reinforces the organisation’s continued commitment to empowering communities and accelerating the adoption of sustainable energy solutions at the grassroots level.
