Tata Power-DDL is well prepared for the Monsoon Season with strong safety measures to ensure uninterrupted power and public safety
New Delhi : As the monsoon season sets in, Tata Power-DDL reaffirms its commitment to ensuring public safety, reliable power supply, and swift emergency response through a robust monsoon preparedness strategy.
Speaking on the safety preparedness, a spokesperson at Tata Power-DDL said: “We have undertaken extensive preventive and proactive measures to mitigate risks arising during the monsoon. Our field teams are on high alert, and all necessary resources have been mobilized to ensure uninterrupted services and safety of the public as well as our workforce. We urge all our customers to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines. Together, we can ensure a risk-free and secure monsoon season.”
Key Preparedness highlights –
(1) Pre-monsoon inspection and maintenance of equipment including poles, Distribution Transformers and cables etc.
(2) As part of Special Current leakage testing drive, we have tested more than 50,000 installations till 30th June 2025 this year. It includes testing of our network Poles, Streetlight Poles, Substation fencing, Grill fencing of MCD/ PWD parks, ATMs and Gates & other installations in Schools, Hospitals etc.
(3) Deployment of special teams for 24×7 emergency response, especially in flood-prone and high-risk areas.
(4) We have also completed special Public Installation Safety Audit (PISA) drive of more than 5500 installations at Schools, Hospitals, DJB water treatment plants and large office premises etc.
(5) The height of more than 50 substations prone to be affected during flood conditions have been raised.
(6) Preventive tree trimming and vegetation cleaning to avoid outages due to falling branches or uprooted trees.
In addition to this, monsoon-related issues like waterlogging, strong winds, and lightning pose serious risks to power infrastructure. In view of these challenges, Tata Power-DDL is also undertaking proactive consumer awareness drives on electrical safety to mitigate risks and safeguard lives. Notices are being served/ pasted wherever electrical safety violations are observed, and the supply is being disconnected for dangerous installations in congested areas to prevent accidents, including electrocution and flash burns.
All field teams of Tata Power DDL have been trained on electrical safety protocols specific to monsoon conditions, with emphasis on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and zero tolerance for unsafe practices.
The company spokesperson further added, “Public cooperation is key during such times. We urge citizens to avoid touching electrical installations, exposed wires, open bus-bars/ feeder pillars or panels.”
