Tensions Erupt at Patna AIIMS: Clash Between MLA Chetan Anand and Doctors, OPD Services Halted, Patients Suffer
Patna (Bihar) : A major controversy has erupted at Patna AIIMS after a heated confrontation between MLA Chetan Anand and hospital staff, leading to a tense atmosphere on the premises. The incident reportedly took place late night two days ago when the MLA visited the hospital with his family to meet a patient.
MLA Chetan Anand has alleged that he was held hostage for over an hour inside the hospital by security guards, who allegedly misbehaved with him. Following the incident, he has filed an official complaint at the Phulwari Sharif police station.
On the other hand, security personnel and junior doctors at AIIMS have countered the allegations, claiming that the MLA and his supporters assaulted hospital staff, including both guards and duty doctors. They allege that verbal abuse and physical altercations took place during the confrontation.
In protest, all junior doctors at Patna AIIMS have gone on an indefinite strike starting this morning. OPD services have been completely shut down, and doctors were seen staging protests inside the hospital campus, chanting slogans like “We Want Justice”. Currently, only emergency services are functioning; the rest of the departments remain non-operational.
The ongoing strike has had a direct impact on hundreds of patients, many of whom have traveled from distant areas and are now left in limbo without access to medical care. Confusion and distress were visible among patients and their families as they waited for services to resume.
Both parties have now filed FIRs at the Phulwari Sharif police station, and local administration along with officials from the health department are closely monitoring the situation. However, no concrete resolution has been reached yet.
All eyes are now on the authorities to see what action will be taken in this sensitive and escalating dispute, and how swiftly normalcy can be restored at one of Bihar’s premier medical institutions.
