“Those Who Haven’t Fled Will Be Driven Out in Three Months” — Samrat Choudhary’s Strong Claim on Crime, Targets Lalu Yadav Too

Patna: After taking charge of the Home Ministry in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has been in constant action mode. Reiterating a tough stand against crime, he made another strong statement, claiming that criminals in Bihar have either already fled or will be forced out of the state within the next three months.
Samrat Choudhary made these remarks on Monday while attending the seventh death anniversary programme of former Union Minister Jai Narayan Nishad in Patna. Speaking on the government’s policy and actions on crime control, he said the administration was firmly committed to ensuring good governance.
He said, “Some criminals are still roaming around secretly, but now it is my responsibility to fix Bihar by cleaning up crime, removing garbage and running a cleanliness drive. I will continue to do party work, but I am also working to drive out criminals. Many have already fled, and those who haven’t will certainly be driven out within the next three months, because every section of society in Bihar wants good governance.”
Samrat Choudhary said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has always emphasised sushasan (good governance), and the current government is working resolutely in that direction.
On the same occasion, he also took a sharp dig at RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Referring to the free electricity scheme, he said that even before the NDA government was formed, a decision was taken to provide 125 units of free electricity to the people of Bihar. The government is spending around ₹19,000 crore on this scheme, compared to ₹16,000 crore earlier on subsidies.
He said, “Now everyone in Bihar is getting 125 units of free electricity — even the opposition. When Lalu Prasad Yadav receives his electricity bill, he too must be getting 125 units free.”
Taking a jibe at Lalu Yadav’s past remarks, Samrat Choudhary recalled that before NDA rule, when Lalu Yadav was Chief Minister, he had once said that if there were no floods, how would people eat fish. He claimed that due to the efforts of the Nitish Kumar government, Bihar has now moved ahead of many states in fish production and will soon begin exporting fish to Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh as well.
Samrat Choudhary’s statements are being seen as a strong signal of the government’s tough intent on law and order and its emphasis on good governance in Bihar.
