Traffic Suspended in Higher Areas of Kupwara After Fresh Snowfall
Kupwara (Kashmir) : Traffic has been suspended in the higher areas of Kupwara following fresh snowfall. Authorities have had to close roads leading to these regions.
An official reported that several areas of the border district, including Z-Gali in Machil, Ferkiyan Top in Keran, and Sadhna Top, have accumulated 7 to 8 inches of snow. Considering the adverse weather conditions, the district administration has decided to halt all vehicular movement on roads leading to these regions.
The snowfall has rendered the roads to the upper areas dangerously slippery, necessitating the suspension of traffic for the safety of travelers. The official emphasized that traffic will only resume once weather conditions improve, ensuring safe travel for everyone.
In addition to snowfall in higher areas, other locations such as Budnamal, Kumkadi, Bangus Valley, and Pothwari have also experienced snow. Meanwhile, the plains of the district have witnessed heavy rainfall. As a precautionary measure, the district administration has advised residents of upper areas to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities until weather conditions stabilize.
