Training on Natural Farming at Lungla
Lungla (Arunachal Pradesh) : Under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme National Mission on Natural Farming, the Department of Agriculture today conducted an Awareness-cum-Orientation Training Programme for the Mangnam and Sakyur Clusters at Lungla. The programme was attended by ZPM Lungla, Gram Chairpersons and other PRI members, Gaonburhas, SHG members, Community Resource Persons, and over 100 farmers.
Entomologist K.B. Kayastha from Tawang elaborated on the mission’s objectives, highlighting the importance of nature-based sustainable farming systems. He emphasized the use of on-farm natural farming bio-inputs to reduce dependence on externally purchased inputs, thereby lowering production costs. He further explained various natural farming practices that
improve soil structure and nutrition, promote crop diversification, and enhance the soil’s water-holding capacity.
In his address, ZPM Lungla Thutan Gombu encouraged farmers to adopt natural farming methods with scientifically backed approaches to ensure sustainability, climate resilience, and safe food production.
During the interactive session, farmers clarified their queries on different aspects of agricultural practices with the resource person, making the programme both informative and engaging.
