Tribal Groups Protest Flyover Ramp Construction Near Sacred Sarna Site, Call for Ranchi Bandh

Ranchi (Jharkhand): Members of tribal organizations staged a strong protest in Ranchi’s Tatisilwai area on Sunday, opposing the construction of the Siramtoli-MECON flyover ramp near the sacred Sarna site, a place of worship for the tribal community.

Protesters stated that the Sarna site holds deep religious and cultural significance for indigenous communities, and the construction of a flyover ramp in its proximity violates its sanctity.

The protesting groups have demanded that the ramp be immediately removed, and urged the administration to ensure that no future construction near religious or cultural sites is undertaken without community consent.

In response to the issue, tribal groups have called for a Ranchi Bandh today, which has had a visible impact across several areas of the city.

In view of the protests, authorities have tightened security in sensitive locations and are initiating dialogue with community representatives to reach a peaceful resolution.

The incident once again highlights the need to strike a balance between development and preservation of traditional and religious heritage.
