Uttarkashi Cloudburst Incident: NDRF DIG Mohsin Shahidi’s Statement, Relief and Rescue Operations Underway
Delhi/Uttarkashi: The situation remains critical in the Dharali region of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, following a devastating cloudburst. Responding to the incident, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mohsin Shahidi stated that relief and rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing.
He said, “Teams from ITBP, SDRF, and BRO are on the ground and actively engaged in relief operations. Relief camps have been set up in the affected areas. Around 150 people have been shifted to safer locations, and the search for missing persons is ongoing.”
DIG Shahidi further added, “According to the latest information, four bodies have been recovered. Over 100 people may be injured or missing, but this figure has not yet been confirmed. We are awaiting detailed information from the local administration.”
The aftermath of the incident has created chaos in the affected areas. Adverse weather conditions and the difficult terrain are posing challenges to relief efforts, but rescue teams are working tirelessly.
The administration has appealed to local residents not to pay attention to rumors and to follow official advisories and safety instructions.
