Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Tawang district launched

 

Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh): In a significant step towards promoting sustainable and scientific agriculture, the nation-wide campaign Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was formally launched for Tawang district today by Deputy Commissioner Kanki Darang from Khartooth Village. The event marked the flagging off of the Krishi Rath, a mobile awareness unit aimed at disseminating vital agricultural information and sensitizing farmers across the district to modern, sustainable, and scientific farming practices.
The campaign, which will run from 29th May to 12th June 2025, seeks to empower farmers through knowledge-sharing, technology demonstrations, and information on government schemes

related to agriculture and allied sectors. A similar Krishi Rath was flagged off from Jemeithang by I/C EAC Deewan Mara at the Jemeithang headquarters.
The launch event saw active participation from officials of allied departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, Fisheries, and the National Research Centre on Yak, Dirang, as well as members of Farmer Producer Companies, Panchayat leaders, Gaon Burahs, and local farmers.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, DC Kanki Darang highlighted the importance of organic farming for maintaining soil fertility and ensuring sustainable crop production. He also advocated for integrated farming systems, especially the inclusion of pisciculture, to enhance farmers’ income and livelihood security.

Scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tawang and NRC on Yak, Dirang, along with experts from agricultural and allied departments, provided valuable insights into scientific farming technologies and government welfare schemes. The interactive session facilitated direct engagement between farmers and experts, allowing participants to clarify doubts and share their specific needs related to agriculture and allied sectors.
KVK Tawang has been designated as the nodal agency to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the campaign throughout the district.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan aims to bring transformative change to the rural agrarian landscape by enhancing farmer awareness, encouraging innovation, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices across the region.
