Wave City Residents Outraged Over Illegal Protests Near Township
Ghaziabad (UP): Residents of Wave City, which is being developed as the country’s largest hi-tech city, have expressed deep resentment over ongoing illegal protests near the township. Despite prior warnings from the administration, certain unruly elements continue to stage demonstrations under the guise of farmer protests, leading to growing unrest among locals.
Residents say the protests are creating an atmosphere of fear, particularly for those who commute daily for work. Working women have been especially affected. The unauthorized gathering has disrupted normal life and instilled a constant sense of insecurity in the area.
Rajkumar Sharma, a Wave City resident, stated, “Every morning when I leave for office, there’s a fear that something untoward might happen. The protest includes some miscreants who seem threatening, and the police have done little to address the situation.”
Long-time residents Sunil Sharma and Anshul Sharma said they bought homes in Wave City with the hope of living in a well-planned hi-tech township. “Unfortunately, these disruptive elements are hindering development and making daily life difficult. If anyone confronts them, they become aggressive. We live in constant fear,” they said.
Saloni Chaudhary, an employee at a private firm, added, “Returning home from work in the evening has become stressful. The protestors appear aggressive, and their presence is intimidating. If there has already been a settlement between Wave City management and the farmers, who are these people still protesting?”
Echoing this concern, another resident, Sarla Rana, questioned the continued protest. “We’ve heard that the demands of farmer groups have been accepted. If their concerns have been addressed, then who are these protestors and why is the demonstration still ongoing? The authorities seem helpless while we live in fear.”
Notably, since March 17, 2025, members of the Kisan Sangharsh Samiti have been staging a sit-in protest on the main road leading to the company’s sales office in Wave City Hi-Tech Township under Wave City Police Station. Protestors have set up tents and barricades, effectively blocking the route and causing severe inconvenience to residents.
Despite the ongoing unrest, no effective administrative action has yet been taken, further fueling frustration among the community.
