Workshop Organized to Prepare Officials for Rising Demand of Updates on International Yoga Day 2025

New Delhi : In a significant step toward ensuring seamless coordination and wide outreach for the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the Ministry of AYUSH, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, organized a high-level virtual workshop. The event witnessed participation from over 400 representatives of various government ministries and institutions.

The aim of the session was to address the growing demand for timely and authentic information surrounding the grand celebrations of Yoga Day. This year marks a decade since the United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day in 2014, making 2025 a historically significant milestone.

Secretary of AYUSH, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, chaired the session and highlighted the central government’s unified commitment to this year’s IDY theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” Key officials including Joint Secretary of I&B Ministry, Mr. C. Senthil Rajan, and Joint Secretary of AYUSH Ministry, Ms. Monalisa Dash, addressed the participants and outlined the media engagement strategy.

In his opening remarks, Secretary Kotecha emphasized the growing national and global relevance of Yoga Day, stating:

“International Yoga Day is no longer just a date on the calendar — it has evolved into a decade-long national movement for wellness, unity, and harmony. IDY 2025 is an opportunity to connect every citizen across the country to this shared celebration of well-being.”

He added that Yoga has emerged as a powerful tool for public health transformation and cultural diplomacy, positioning India as a global leader in preventive healthcare and holistic wellness.

Mr. C. Senthil Rajan spoke about the importance of media convergence across platforms and how visual storytelling can enhance awareness and public engagement. Ms. Monalisa Dash highlighted the critical role of coordinated planning and creative messaging in expanding the reach of IDY 2025.

The workshop also served as a platform to review inter-ministerial initiatives, brainstorm outreach strategies, and finalize plans for a nationwide campaign leading up to June 21. A special emphasis was placed on delivering the message of Yoga to tribal regions, urban areas, rural communities, and marginalized populations through both digital and grassroots channels.

With just a few weeks left until the 11th International Day of Yoga on June 21, preparations are in full swing for what is expected to be a historic and inclusive celebration. Yoga continues to stand as India’s gift to the world, uniting millions in the pursuit of health, peace, and harmony.
