World’s Biggest Traffic Jam at Mahakumbh 2025: Pilgrims Stranded from Prayagraj to MP Border, Vehicles Crawling for 72 Hours

Prayagraj (UP): Mahakumbh 2025, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, has now set another record—an unprecedented traffic jam. Prayagraj has become one of the most congested cities in the world in recent days, with severe traffic gridlock persisting for over 72 hours. This massive jam is not limited to Prayagraj but extends 300 kilometers from the MP border in Satna and Katni to Prayagraj.

Urgent Arrangements Ordered for Stranded Pilgrims

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has directed immediate arrangements for the stranded pilgrims facing difficulties due to the Mahakumbh traffic crisis. He stated that roads in Rewa, Jabalpur, Katni, and Seoni districts have been completely blocked, leaving thousands of devotees stuck. Most vehicles are carrying women, elderly people, and children, who urgently need food, water, and sanitation facilities.

The Chief Minister has instructed local administrations and urban bodies to ensure basic amenities for affected pilgrims. He has also appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities in restoring order.

Worsening Situation, Pilgrims Forced to Return

This massive traffic jam has made life unbearable for both local residents and visiting pilgrims.

Locals are unable to access schools, hospitals, and essential services.
Pilgrims are unable to reach the Sangam on time, forcing many to turn back in disappointment.
Even a 2-kilometer journey is taking over 10 hours.
The roads from Delhi and Kanpur have already been clogged with traffic for over 30 kilometers, while pilgrims arriving from MP and Varanasi are also trapped in the gridlock. The situation has become so severe that many devotees are now considering returning home instead of attending the Mahakumbh.

Complete Traffic Paralysis in Prayagraj

The massive influx of devotees and chaotic traffic management have brought Prayagraj’s entire road network to a standstill. Authorities are making every possible effort to control the situation, but the sheer scale of congestion has overwhelmed all arrangements.

If immediate traffic control measures are not implemented, this massive jam could become the biggest challenge for Mahakumbh 2025 pilgrims.
