President of India Inaugurates National Arogya Fair 2026 at Shegaon

Shegaon (Maharashtra) : The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, today inaugurated the National Arogya Fair 2026 in Shegaon, Buldhana district of Maharashtra. On the occasion, she also felicitated six senior Vaidyas for their distinguished contribution to AYUSH healthcare.
Addressing the gathering, the President said that Indian tradition regards overall health as the greatest happiness, and healthy citizens play a vital role in strengthening the nation. She highlighted that AYUSH systems of medicine have made invaluable contributions to public health, noting that practices such as Yoga and Ayurveda have served humanity since the early days of organized healthcare.
The President emphasized that India’s farms, kitchens, and forests hold a rich treasure of medicinal plants and healing herbs. Conserving and enhancing this natural wealth, she said, is essential both for ensuring raw materials for medicines and for maintaining ecological balance. Cultivation of medicinal plants not only improves farmers’ incomes but also promotes soil health and environmental conservation. Thus, promoting AYUSH contributes simultaneously to physical well-being, economic growth, and environmental protection.
She further stated that Ayurveda, yoga and other AYUSH systems provide guidance for a balanced and healthy lifestyle. Today, the world increasingly recognizes the importance of integrative medicine in disease prevention, with people across the globe adopting yoga for stress-free living and benefiting from Ayurvedic therapies.
The President underlined that evidence-based research, standardization of medicines and quality control measures will further strengthen global acceptance of AYUSH systems. She expressed satisfaction that the Ministry of AYUSH is actively working in this direction by developing research guidelines and drug-development standards aligned with international norms.
She expressed confidence that through scientific innovation, modern interventions and global collaboration, traditional systems of medicine will become an integral part of a holistic healthcare system worldwide.
