New Delhi: A rare exhibition showcasing the life, legacy, and contributions of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was inaugurated on Friday at Vinay Nagar Bengali Senior Secondary School in Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi. The exhibition has been organized as part of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’, paying tribute to its author, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, through the theme “Renaissance of Anandamath.”
The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. K.P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director of NBCC. Speaking on the occasion, he described Netaji as an enduring source of inspiration for the younger generation and said that such initiatives play an important role in connecting youth with India’s glorious freedom struggle and rich historical legacy.
A Rare Collection Built Over 32 Years
The exhibition’s main attraction is a unique collection of rare artifacts associated with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, painstakingly assembled over the past 32 years by Prithwish Das Gupta. Inspired by Netaji’s life and ideals, Gupta conducted extensive research and collaborated with collectors and institutions in India and abroad to gather historically significant memorabilia.
Among the prized exhibits are a bronze insignia from Netaji’s military uniform, 13 paramilitary medals, and several other rare artifacts acquired from a collector in London. These invaluable items are regarded as an important part of India’s freedom movement heritage.
Extensive Research Behind the Collection
To curate the exhibition, Prithwish Das Gupta undertook detailed research on Netaji’s life and India’s independence movement. He extensively studied historical works, including “Struggle of India” and “The Spring Tiger,” to ensure the authenticity and historical significance of the collection.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Dr. Sajal Mishra, Senior Advisor at CPWD; Shubhankar Ghosh, Additional Secretary, Home Department, Government of Delhi; Dipti Singh Karkotiya, Principal of Vinay Nagar Bengali Senior Secondary School; faculty members; and a large number of students.
