Tejashwi Yadav Launches Scathing Attack in Bihar: “Nitish Govt Should Form a ‘Son-in-Law Commission’, Appointments Now Based on Relations, Not Merit”
Patna (Bihar) : Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, has launched a fierce attack on the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, accusing it of blatant nepotism and favoritism in the appointment of members to state commissions. He alleged that close relatives of NDA leaders and retired bureaucrats have recently been appointed to key positions in various commissions, including the State Women’s Commission.
Sarcasm over the ‘Son-in-Law Commission’
Taking a jibe at the government, Tejashwi remarked:
“The government should now officially create a ‘Jamai Aayog’ (Son-in-Law Commission) to accommodate the close relatives of political leaders and bureaucrats. Isn’t this a clear example of nepotism?”
He added that appointments are no longer based on merit or experience, but rather on personal relations and political proximity.
Key Posts Given to Sons-in-Law of Former Leaders
Tejashwi alleged that sons-in-law of late Ram Vilas Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Ashok Choudhary have been appointed to significant posts in various commissions. He questioned whether state commissions have now become mere platforms to accommodate political relatives.
Controversial Appointment in Women’s Commission
Tejashwi also questioned the appointment of the wife of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Principal Secretary, Deepak Prasad, as a member of the Women’s Commission under the educationalist category. He asked: “Was there no other qualified woman available in all of Bihar? Shockingly, she hid her husband’s name and used her father’s name in the application. Is this transparency?”
Allegations of Dynastic Politics in NDA
Tejashwi claimed that over 50% of ministers in Nitish Kumar’s government come from dynastic political backgrounds. He pointed out the irony that while his father Lalu Prasad Yadav is repeatedly targeted for promoting dynastic politics, the ruling NDA is filled with similar examples.
Opposition Questions Democratic Values
Tejashwi warned that the spirit of justice, fairness, and democracy is being mocked under this system.
“If commissions are filled solely on the basis of relationships, it shuts the door for deserving and talented individuals,” he said.
The emergence of the term ‘Jamai Aayog’ has stirred a storm in Bihar’s political circles. Tejashwi Yadav’s sharp critique has not only added a satirical twist but has also raised serious concerns about transparency and fairness in governance.
All eyes are now on the NDA government’s response. Will Chief Minister Nitish Kumar address these serious allegations, or will the opposition’s attack be dismissed yet again?
