Major Action in UP Assembly: Three Expelled SP MLAs Declared Unattached, Assigned New Identity in House

Lucknow (UP) :  A significant political development has emerged from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. Three legislators expelled from the Samajwadi Party (SP) — Manoj Pandey, Rakesh Pratap Singh, and Abhay Singh — have now been officially declared as unattached members by the Assembly Secretariat.

According to the official order issued, the three MLAs will no longer be allowed to sit with the SP members in the House. They have been assigned separate seats, indicating that they are no longer considered formally affiliated with any recognized political party within the Assembly.

The Samajwadi Party had already expelled the three legislators on charges of anti-party activities. The Assembly’s move is expected to impact SP’s internal strategy and its numerical strength within the House.

What Does “Unattached Member” Mean?

An unattached member is a legislator who is not associated with any recognized political party in the Assembly — either due to expulsion or resignation from a party. Such members are seated separately and lose their party affiliation for all official legislative purposes.

Political Implications:

SP’s official member count in the Assembly will now reduce.

This decision could affect SP’s legislative strategy and influence in upcoming sessions.

Political observers are keenly watching the future course of action of these three MLAs.

This development is being seen as a sign of political instability and factionalism, especially at a time when the state’s political landscape is gearing up for the 2027 elections.
