In the case of two EPIC numbers, Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Sinha gets Election Commission notice, asked to respond by August 14

Patna (Bihar) :  Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP leader Vijay Kumar Sinha has been accused of being registered as a voter in two separate assembly constituencies — Lakhisarai and Bankipur in Patna — at the same time. The allegation was made by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who claimed that Sinha holds two different EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) numbers and that there is also a discrepancy in his age in both records. Tejashwi termed this a “fraud” and demanded that an FIR be registered.

Taking cognizance of the matter, the Election Commission has issued a notice to Vijay Sinha, directing him to submit his reply by August 14.

Vijay Sinha, however, has rejected all allegations, stating that in April 2024 he had applied to have his name removed from Bankipur and added to Lakhisarai, but due to an administrative error, his name remained in Bankipur’s draft list as well. He clarified that he votes only from Lakhisarai and accused Tejashwi Yadav of misleading the public.

The issue has now become a topic of discussion in both political and administrative circles.
