Bhartiya Lokmat Rashtrawadi Party’s Big Announcement: Strong Demand for Reservation Based on Economic Criteria

New Delhi : Calling for a major change in the country’s social justice system, the Bhartiya Lokmat Rashtrawadi Party staged a massive protest at Jantar Mantar in the national capital today. The protest saw the participation of party national president Pankaj Kumar Sharma, national general secretary Kaushal Jangde, national president of the party’s youth women’s wing Kautika Raut, along with office-bearers and workers from various states.
The primary demand of the protest was for the Government of India to abolish the current caste-based reservation system and replace it with a new reservation policy entirely based on economic criteria.

Pankaj Kumar Sharma: “The real beneficiary of reservation should be the poor, not a particular caste”
Addressing the gathering, Pankaj Kumar Sharma said: “Today’s movement is not against any caste, religion, or community. It is the voice of millions of poor people who have been left behind in the caste-based reservation system simply because they were not born into a caste that gets its benefits.”

Questioning the reservation policy introduced in 1952, he said it was necessary at the time to ensure social equality for Dalits, Adivasis, and backward classes. However, he argued that in 2025, the socio-economic realities have changed, and economic status, not caste, should determine eligibility for reservation.

Raising the question “One-time benefit, but why again and again?”, Sharma said that if a family has already benefited from reservation and has integrated into the mainstream, giving the same benefit to future generations of that family is an injustice to those who are still struggling with poverty and deprivation.

Impact on Talent in Education

Sharma claimed that the reservation system negatively affects students’ self-confidence. He said:
“Dalit and Adivasi children score 90–99% marks from Class 1 to Class 10. They are hardworking and intelligent. But when they are told that because of reservation they only need 10 marks to pass, it crushes their spirit. This system is strangling talent.”

Criticism of Political Leaders

In his speech, Sharma accused several politicians of amassing billions through caste-based reservation politics while the public remains divided and suffers. He urged citizens to rise above caste-based politics and unite for the nation’s progress.

Key Demands of the Party

  • Replace caste-based reservation entirely with reservation based on economic criteria.
  • Once a family avails reservation benefits, the next generation should not be eligible for the same.
  • Only families with an annual income below ₹6 lakh should qualify for reservation benefits.
  • End caste-based discrimination and ensure equal opportunities for all.

At the conclusion of the protest, party leaders warned that if the government fails to take prompt action, the movement will be intensified and expanded nationwide.
