No Threat to Anyone’s Livelihood in Delhi, Assures BJP State President
New Delhi : Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva on Wednesday accused Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra of attempting to disrupt the social harmony of Delhi by reposting a video featuring unidentified individuals. He assured that no one’s livelihood in Delhi will be put at risk, regardless of the political narratives being pushed.
Mahua Moitra had posted a video on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showing fish vendors near Kali Mandir in Chittaranjan Park allegedly being threatened to shut down their shops. In her post, she claimed that Bengalis who eat fish in Chittaranjan Park were being intimidated, and lamented that no action had been taken against those responsible.
“Moitra Spreading Sensationalism Instead of Seeking Justice”
Addressing a press conference, Virendra Sachdeva stated that if Moitra were genuinely concerned, she would have approached the Delhi Police instead of spreading sensationalism through social media. He pointed out that the shops in the fish market have been operating legally for the past 50–60 years, and the vendors themselves played a key role in building the Kali temple in the area.
“The fish market caters to the needs of the locality, and the vendors maintain high standards of cleanliness,” said Sachdeva. “They also actively participate in the region’s social and religious activities. In fact, many of these vendors are BJP workers.”
BJP Respects All Cultures and Livelihoods
Sachdeva emphasized that the BJP respects all dietary preferences and cultural practices, and that the party will not tolerate any interference in people’s right to earn a livelihood. He strongly condemned any attempt to disturb communal harmony and called on the Delhi Police to take strict action in the matter.
He further alleged that both the Trinamool Congress and Aam Aadmi Party were trying to polarize the social atmosphere in the capital for political gain, but vowed that they would never succeed.
Local MLA Dismisses Allegations
Local BJP MLA Shikha Rai also weighed in, dismissing Moitra’s claims as politically motivated. “A few individuals are trying to cook up conspiracies for political mileage,” she said. Rai met with the fish market vendors, who reportedly denied any such incident of threats or intimidation.
