BSP Will Contest 2027 UP Assembly Elections with Full Strength: Mayawati

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has announced that the BSP will contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections with full strength, and a comprehensive strategy is being prepared for the same. She emphasized that inactivity and negligence within the party organization will not be tolerated. She instructed party workers to strengthen the organization and effectively communicate the party’s policies to the public.

A meeting was held on Wednesday at the BSP state office, attended by officials from both Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In the meeting, the BSP chief reviewed the progress of the directives issued during the March 2 meeting and asked for immediate rectification of the shortcomings identified.

Mayawati criticized the deteriorating law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh and accused the BJP’s double-engine government of not working for the welfare and development of the poor and Bahujan communities. She claimed the current government, like the previous SP government, is focused on a few selected areas and groups. She highlighted that during past BSP governments, emphasis was placed on law and order, employment, women’s welfare, farmers’ rights, and justice for the underprivileged. She urged the BJP governments in UP and Uttarakhand to follow the constitutional duty of working with a sense of responsibility rather than using religion as a political tool.

Reiterating the BSP’s commitment to the 2027 elections, Mayawati said that strategies are being framed and the party will contest with full vigor. She also criticized the opportunistic remembrance of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by rival parties, especially during his birth anniversary, while at the same time acts of disrespect towards his statues and violence against his followers continue.

She stated that true respect for Dr. Ambedkar is possible only when the humanitarian and welfare principles of the Constitution he created are upheld. All citizens, regardless of caste or religion, must be guaranteed equal rights, safety of life and property, and religious freedom by the government.
