Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Alleges: “AAP Govt Was Never Fond of Good Work”

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, accusing it of deliberately ignoring central welfare schemes. Speaking at a public event, she said, “Wherever the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the central government appeared, the former government had a problem implementing the schemes. That’s why they did not adopt welfare initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Yojana and Arogya Mandir. They could have done anything, but they simply didn’t appreciate good work.”

CM Rekha Gupta was addressing a tree plantation event at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Shalimar Bagh, organized under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0’ campaign. During the event, she reiterated the new government’s commitment to environmental conservation.

She stated, “Last year, when Prime Minister Modi launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, we planted trees in Delhi as well. However, the former government did not support the project through the Delhi government’s platform. This was unfortunate, as it is a vital step towards improving Delhi’s environment.”

The Chief Minister further announced that the Delhi government has set a target of planting 7 million trees this season. She appealed to students and local residents to actively participate in the campaign.

Her remarks come at a time when political rhetoric between the Centre and state governments is intensifying in the national capital. Her statement signals that the new Delhi government is prioritizing central schemes and working towards strengthening the spirit of cooperative federalism.
