Delhi University’s Shyam Lal College Celebrates National Sports Day

New Delhi: On the occasion of National Sports Day, a special lecture on ‘Olympics and Paralympics’ and Sports events were organized at Shyam Lal College, University of Delhi, giving a message of ‘one hour in the playground’. National Sports Day is dedicated to Major Dhyan Chand, the superstar of hockey. Despite the heavy rains, the students played volleyball with full enthusiasm and understood the importance of playing sports in life.
Principal of the college Prof. Rabi Narayan Kar said that the message of “one hour in the playground” inspires the youth to adopt an active lifestyle and make sports an essential part of life.
The country’s prestigious sports journalist Mr. Rakesh Thapliyal was the key Note speaker on the topic ‘Olympics and Paralympics’. He motivated the students to become a high level player by informing the students with the achievements of Major Dhyanchand. He also told them about the hard work and sacrifices of the players of India who have won medals in Olympics and Paralympics.
The Associate Professor (Sports) of the college, Mr. VS Jaggi, gave the message to all the students to shine with discipline and hard work in sports and education and assured that the college management will give all possible help. Dr. Mukta Rohatgi and Dr. Sumita Sharma also encouraged the students. Dr. Khyati gave some valuable tips to the students about staying completely fit by escaping the injuries.
