External Farmer Leaders Hindering Development Work in Wave City
Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): The development of Wave City, poised to become the country’s premier hi-tech city, is being repeatedly obstructed by certain so-called farmer leaders from outside the region. These individuals are not only refusing to abide by the terms of previously agreed-upon settlements but are also spreading chaos in the area under the guise of supporting farmers.
Reports have emerged of these outsiders inciting unrest by forcefully blocking roads, threatening locals, and misbehaving with Wave City employees. Despite several FIRs being lodged against such leaders and their associates, no concrete action has been taken by the police or district administration.
For the past several days, multiple incidents from Wave City have surfaced, causing significant distress to the local community. Allegedly, these external leaders have been blackmailing the company in the name of farmers, pressuring them to disregard the terms of past agreements. Employees have stated that these individuals arrive in small groups, shout slogans at the gates, and misbehave with the staff.
The Wave Group management has claimed that these farmer leaders are now denying the terms they had once agreed to and are resorting to blackmail and extortion. Chief Operating Officer of Wave City, Mr. C.J. Singh, clarified that the company had complied with the terms of the agreement signed in 2014. “We fulfilled all obligations within the stipulated time frame. Clause 3 of the agreement cannot be accepted now, as its deadline has long passed. It’s unclear why this demand is resurfacing after 11 years,” he said.
According to official records, on May 25, 2014, under the chairmanship of the Ghaziabad Development Authority, representatives from the Hi-Tech City developer, administrative officials, and farmers from villages including Mehraul, Sadikpur, Kajipura, Bayana, Nayafal, Shahpur Bamheta, Inayatpur, Arifpur, and Sadatnagar Ikla signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement stated that farmers and their representatives would fully cooperate with the developer and ensure that no obstacles would be created in the development process.
However, despite this agreement, continuous protests and disruptive actions by certain individuals are stalling the development work and instilling fear among the local residents.
