Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) : The newly appointed Director General of Police (DGP) of Madhya Pradesh, Kailash Makwana, has wasted no time after assuming office. His decisive actions and firm stance signal his commitment to crafting a new image for the state police. Makwana envisions a police force that embodies the motto of “Patriotism and Public Service” and serves as an exemplary model for the rest of the nation.
Makwana has outlined clear priorities for achieving his goals for the Madhya Pradesh Police. His proactive approach has kindled new hopes among the public. He has directed the police to focus on addressing issues affecting the general public while ensuring the state’s law and order situation remains robust. Makwana has also emphasized that no negligence will be tolerated in fulfilling these responsibilities.
Those familiar with Makwana’s determination, dedication, and unique working style know that he leaves no room for doubt regarding his resolve. These traits have earned him the state police’s highest post. Before this, he served as Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing Corporation. A postgraduate in engineering, Makwana has been honored with the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2005 and the Distinguished Service Medal in 2014.
Upon assuming office, Makwana set clear expectations for the police department. He aims to make the police more sensitive, duty-conscious, and accountable to the public. He stressed the importance of discipline and warned against activities that could tarnish the police’s image. He made it clear that indiscipline will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Makwana also expressed displeasure over the growing number of officers and employees approaching him directly without proper protocol. He found it objectionable that applications submitted to him lacked recommendations from senior officers and were filed without prior permission to meet the DGP.
Recognizing the rise in cybercrimes due to increasing digitization and online transactions, Makwana emphasized the need to curb such offenses strictly. He advocated for public awareness and strengthening the police through better technology and resources. He also praised the state’s efforts in tackling cybercrimes.
To address public grievances promptly, Makwana has instructed that weekly public hearings be conducted at police stations, eliminating the need for people to visit senior officials’ offices. This initiative is expected to expedite grievance redressal and ease public inconvenience.
Additionally, the new DGP has received praise for his focus on reducing road accidents. He stressed the importance of coordination with other departments and engineering designs to implement effective measures.
Makwana also highlighted the challenges posed by the upcoming 2028 Simhastha Kumbh in Ujjain. With the rising number of devotees visiting the newly developed Mahakal Lok, he considers ensuring safety, organization, and convenience a significant task for the police. He has directed the department to remain vigilant and proactive in their preparations for the world-renowned event.
Through his vision and commitment, Kailash Makwana is determined to transform the Madhya Pradesh Police into a model institution, though the road ahead will require unwavering effort.
