Senior IPS Officer Kailash Makwana Appointed as Madhya Pradesh’s 32nd DGP

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed senior IPS officer Kailash Makwana as the state’s new Director General of Police (DGP). The order, issued late Saturday night by the Home Department, confirms Makwana, a 1988 batch IPS officer, as the 32nd DGP of Madhya Pradesh.

Currently serving as the Chairman of the MP Police Housing Corporation, Makwana will assume his new role on December 1, succeeding the incumbent DGP, Sudhir Saxena, who is set to retire on November 30, 2024. Makwana is expected to serve until his retirement in December 2025.

Makwana had previously held the position of DGP in the Lokayukta during the tenure of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government. Although his tenure lasted only six months, he gained a reputation for accelerating anti-corruption efforts.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav is embarking on a six-day visit to the UK and Germany. It is anticipated that Makwana will officially take charge upon the Chief Minister’s return.

This leadership transition marks a significant development for the state’s police force, with expectations of a continued focus on reforms and efficiency under Makwana’s guidance.
