Outraing the modesty of women, Police Not Registering FIR in Molestation Case

New Delhi: Despite the complaints of three women from Dwarka Sector-7, Delhi Police is taking no action. The women have raised concerns about their safety, and they have lodged complaints with the Station House Officer (SHO) and the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). The DCP issued immediate orders for action by the officer in charge of Dwarka Sector-9 police station, but the SHO failed to take any action. The three women are now expressing their disappointment over the police’s lax approach, believing that the police are waiting for a major incident before taking any action. Prior to approaching the DCP, they had also appealed to the National Commission for Women and the Delhi Women’s Commission.

The issue pertains to the media society in Dwarka Sector-7, where Ranu, Savita, and Manju (names changed) have been enduring continuous mental harassment and invasion of privacy. The women have accused one of the society residents, Sanjay Jha, of engaging in suspicious activities that threaten their safety and well-being.

A few months ago, Ranu and Manju had complained to the president of their society. They later took the matter to both the police and the women’s commissions. According to their written complaint, Sanjay Jha takes photos of their car parked in the society and of them while walking, and shares their personal information with others. This, they claim, is a violation of their privacy. Additionally, he has made inappropriate comments several times.

Ranu, one of the victims, reported an attack near the society gate and mentioned that her husband is often away on work, leaving her feeling unsafe. She expressed concerns that Sanjay Jha posed a danger to her and her family. Savita, another victim, provided details of several incidents, highlighting issues related to privacy violations and harassment. The third victim, Manju, also complained that Sanjay Jha has been harassing her for a long time by taking pictures of her car and sending them to others. Despite the complaints, the police have not registered an FIR.

Manju further explained that her mother underwent bypass surgery a few months ago and has diabetes. The stress caused by Sanjay Jha’s actions contributed to her mother’s deteriorating health. Eventually, her mother succumbed to illness on December 26, 2024.

After enduring prolonged mental distress, the three women decided to stand firm against criminal elements. They believe that in order to ensure their safety, they must take action themselves. Despite several attempts to file complaints regarding harassment, intrusion of privacy, and molestation, the police have failed to register an FIR. Undeterred by the police’s negligence and indifferent attitude, the three women have vowed to continue their fight until proper action is taken against the perpetrator.
