Paresh Rawal Reveals: “I Had to Drink My Own Urine Like Beer for 15 Days”

Mumbai : Veteran Indian actor Paresh Rawal, celebrated for his iconic roles in hit films like Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhag, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa, has made a shocking revelation in a recent interview. While he has delighted audiences with his impeccable comic timing and impressed them with his serious performances in films like Vaastav and The Storyteller, Rawal shared an extraordinary story from his past: a time when he had to drink his own urine for 15 consecutive days.

The incident dates back to the time when Paresh Rawal was shooting for the film Ghatak. During the shoot, he suffered a severe knee injury. He was rushed to Nanavati Hospital by filmmaker Tinnu Anand and actor Danny Denzongpa. Fearing that the injury could potentially end his acting career, Rawal was understandably distressed. It was then that the late action director Veeru Devgan — father of actor Ajay Devgn — visited him and offered a surprising piece of advice.

Veeru Devgan advised Paresh Rawal to drink his own urine every morning, claiming it would speed up the healing process. Following this unconventional advice, Rawal committed to the practice for 15 days.

Sharing the story in an interview, Paresh Rawal said,
“While I was admitted at Nanavati Hospital, Veeru Devgan came to see me. After learning about my injury, he advised me to drink my morning urine. He assured me that it would ease my pain and help the injury heal faster. He also instructed me to immediately quit alcohol, chicken, and tobacco.”

Acting on Veeru Devgan’s advice, Rawal drank his urine like beer every day for 15 days. After this period, when his X-ray reports came back, even the doctors were astonished. A white line was visible on the report — an indication that his injury was healing much faster than usual. Typically, such injuries take about two to two-and-a-half months to heal, but thanks to the advice he followed, Paresh Rawal claims he recovered fully in just one and a half months.

Paresh Rawal, who has remained a beloved figure in Indian cinema for decades, will soon be seen in the highly anticipated film Hera Pheri 3.
