Launch of Memoir “Smriti Kalash” Dedicated to Eminent Maithili Litterateur Prof. Hitanarayan Jha

New Delhi : A grand ceremony was organized to launch the memoir “Smriti Kalash”, written by teacher and author Kumkum Jha, in memory of renowned Maithili litterateur Professor Hitanarayan Jha. The event was held at the Civil Services Officers’ Institute in the capital. Several distinguished guests, including former IAS officer and author Mr. Mantreshwar Jha, eminent Maithili and Hindi writer Dr. Shefalika Verma, and Padma Shri awardee Dr. Nalini Joshi, spoke about the book and the invaluable contributions of Prof. Hitanarayan Jha.

The book has been written and edited by Kumkum Jha and is a significant work in the Maithili language. “Smriti Kalash” warmly portrays the personality, literary achievements, and unforgettable contributions of Prof. Hitanarayan Jha. Speaking at the event, Kumkum Jha said the book is a collection of personal experiences and cherished memories associated with Prof. Jha. She emphasized that “Smriti Kalash” is not merely a tribute but also a source of inspiration for future generations.

The launch event witnessed the participation of many dignitaries from the fields of literature and education. The speakers highlighted that Prof. Hitanarayan Jha was not only a pillar of Maithili literature but also a dedicated educator who profoundly impacted the lives of many students. Through “Smriti Kalash”, an earnest attempt has been made to preserve his literary legacy and human values.

Several speakers also stressed the importance of preserving and promoting the Maithili language and literature, recognizing “Smriti Kalash” as a vital addition to the genre of memoir writing in Maithili.

Notable participants at the event included Professor Rajeev Verma from Delhi University, former Government of India official Mr. R.N. Jha, and social activist Mr. Amarnath Jha. The event commenced with a dance-drama presentation on the Vidya Peeth anthem performed by Ms. Kavya.
The stage proceedings were conducted by Mr. Manish Jha (Baua Bhai).

Following the launch, the book generated considerable enthusiasm among literature lovers and students. “Smriti Kalash” is expected to become an important reference material for scholars of Maithili literature in the coming times.
