Punjab Gets Regular DGP as IPS Officer Gaurav Yadav Is Appointed; Four-Year Interim Arrangement Ends
Chandigarh: The Punjab government has appointed 1992-batch IPS officer Gaurav Yadav as the state’s regular Director General of Police (DGP). An official notification has reportedly been issued in this regard. His appointment brings an end to the interim DGP arrangement that had continued in the state for nearly four years.
Gaurav Yadav had been serving as Punjab’s acting DGP since July 2022. With his regular appointment, he will continue to lead the state police in his new capacity.
Gaurav Yadav Has Roots in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur
IPS officer Gaurav Yadav originally hails from Belapar village in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district. The village is located in the Naupedwa area and falls under the jurisdiction of Baksha police station. He was born on April 16, 1969, in Amritsar, Punjab.
A 1992-Batch Punjab Cadre Officer
Gaurav Yadav belongs to the 1992 batch of the Punjab cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS). After years of experience in police administration, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of serving as the state’s regular DGP. His appointment marks a significant development in the leadership of the Punjab Police.
