PM Modi Stands as a ‘Wall’ for Farmers, Challenges Trump from Red Fort

New Delhi : On the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking from the historic Red Fort, sent out a clear message that his government will never compromise on the interests of farmers. “Modi stands as a wall”, he declared, symbolizing his commitment to protecting the rights of farmers and fishermen.

This statement comes at a time when trade talks between India and the United States are at a deadlock. US President Donald Trump has been pressuring India to open its markets for American agricultural and dairy products, while India remains firm on prioritizing the protection of its domestic agriculture sector. In the midst of this standoff, the US has imposed a 25% tariff on Indian goods.

Emphasizing the importance of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), Modi said dependence on others can be disastrous and stressed the need for self-sufficiency to safeguard national interests. He announced that the government has identified about 100 districts where farmers require additional support, for which the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana has been launched.

Highlighting progress in the energy and technology sectors, the Prime Minister noted that India is rapidly moving towards energy independence. Over the past 11 years, the nation’s solar power capacity has increased 30-fold, and work is underway on ten new nuclear reactors. By the time India completes 100 years of independence, the goal is to increase nuclear power capacity tenfold.

Calling the 21st century a “technology-driven era”, Modi expressed confidence that ‘Made-in-India chips’ will be available in the market by the end of this year. He also urged a boost to the Make in India initiative by developing indigenous fighter jet engines and domestic fertilizer production.
