President of India Inaugurates Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Gorakhpur

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) :  The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, today. She hailed the institution as a modern hub rooted in India’s rich ancient traditions and called the inauguration a landmark moment for medical education and healthcare services across the country.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu emphasized that the university represents the confluence of modern infrastructure and traditional knowledge systems, significantly contributing to the growth of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) education. She expressed satisfaction that advanced facilities at the university are now accessible to the public and added that over 100 affiliated AYUSH colleges are reaping the benefits of this new center of excellence.

Reflecting briefly on her own journey in public life, the President said that public service requires personal sacrifice and a commitment to the greater good. She praised Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for his unwavering focus on public welfare, noting that his efforts have led to visible progress in health, education, and agriculture in the region. She urged administrators, healthcare professionals, and public servants to uphold the spirit of service and to reflect on the personal vows they made when choosing their professions.

Reiterating the age-old wisdom, “Health is Wealth,” the President encouraged everyone to take proactive steps to maintain good health. She pointed out that promoting personal well-being would also contribute significantly to India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. She also highlighted the growing relevance of yoga, particularly for people with sedentary lifestyles, and urged regular practice for physical and mental well-being.

President Murmu underlined that traditional Indian systems like Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, and Siddha offer scientifically sound and holistic ways of living. She spoke about how Ayurveda promotes a balanced lifestyle rooted in harmony with nature, emphasizing the value of medicinal herbs found in Indian fields and forests. She described AYUSH as India’s invaluable gift to the global community.

Observing the rising popularity of AYUSH-based treatment, the President said that Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath AYUSH University is poised to play a pivotal role in expanding the reach and scientific credibility of traditional Indian health systems. She concluded by stating that such institutions will be instrumental in bridging tradition and modern science for the betterment of humanity.
