Protest Ends, Wave City Residents Relieved
Ghaziabad: Residents of Wave City, which is set to become the country’s largest hi-tech city, are finally breathing a sigh of relief after the long-running protest outside the township came to an end. Both the court and the local administration played a crucial role in resolving the matter.
The protest had been hampering development work in Wave City and causing immense inconvenience to local residents. Working men and women faced daily disruptions, and many feared for their safety as unruly elements often infiltrated the protest, creating an atmosphere of tension. With the protest finally called off, residents expressed happiness and relief. Employees working in Wave City also welcomed the development, saying their daily commute had become easier and safer.
It is noteworthy that on July 14, 2025, Additional Civil Judge Namitesh Gupta directed the Kavi Nagar police station in-charge to enforce the March 22, 2017 order, which prohibited any obstruction to Wave City’s development work and ensured safety of employees entering and exiting the site. However, protestors continued to defy the court order, repeatedly disrupting work and causing unrest.
The court then granted the Kavi Nagar SHO time until July 31, 2025 to resolve the matter by holding talks with the protestors and persuading them to vacate. When the demonstrations continued despite this, police were compelled to remove the protestors forcibly from the site, finally ending the long-standing agitation.
