Samsung Management and Workers’ Dispute Continues, Union May Approach Court

Chennai: The dispute between Samsung management and workers at the company’s Tamil Nadu factory continues to escalate. The negotiations between the workers’ union and company management have failed. In response, the CITU-backed Samsung India Workers’ Union (SIWU) has decided to take the matter to court.

Samsung India remains firm on its decision to take disciplinary action against 23 employees, which the workers’ union deems unfair. SIWU Kanchipuram Secretary, E. Muthukumar, stated that they are planning to file a petition regarding the issue of contractual workers.

Muthukumar further said that on Tuesday, their members plan to visit the Factory Inspector’s office in Sriperumbudur and submit a petition on behalf of the contractual workers. He emphasized that the union’s primary demand has been to revoke the suspension of workers, a matter that was supposed to be settled during previous reconciliation talks. Samsung representatives had earlier assured them that the suspension would be reconsidered.

The union has warned that if the company does not meet their demands, they will intensify their protests. The dispute remains unresolved as the latest round of talks on Monday also failed, forcing CITU to reconsider its next course of action.
