Today Sensex Falls by 341 Points

New Delhi: On the third trading day of the week, Wednesday, the Indian stock market opened in the red once again following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a 104% tariff on Chinese imports.

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex was down by 340.75 points or 0.46%, trading at 73,886.33 in early hours. Similarly, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty dropped by 104.00 points or 0.46%, trading at 22,431.85.

Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 24 were trading in the red. Major losers included Infosys, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharma, Tata Steel, and TCS, with declines of up to 3%. On the Nifty, 42 out of 50 stocks were also trading lower.

In the Asian markets, Japan’s Nikkei index dropped 3.47% and was trading at 31,868. South Korea’s KOSPI index fell by 1.19% to 2,306, while Hong Kong’s index was down 1.55%, trading at 19,815.

Notably, on Tuesday, the markets had closed on a strong note, with the Sensex rising by 1,135 points (1.55%) to close at 74,273, and the Nifty gaining 374 points (1.69%) to settle at 22,535.
