West Bengal dominates with 23 gold medals on day-1 in the 4th National Finswimming Championship

 

New Delhi: West Bengal swimmers dominated on the first day of 4th National Finswimming Championship at Dr. Syama Prasad Mookeerjee Swimming Pool Complex New Delhi.
This championship is organized by
Underwater Sports Federation Of India (USFI) in association with Physical Education Foundation of India recognized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (Government of India).

West Bengal team won a total of 23 gold medals in both men and women categories. In the women section West Bengal won 12 gold and in the men’s category they got 11 gold medals.

Hosts Delhi won, 5 medals in both men and women category.
Two gold and one silver medals were won by men and women won 2 bronze medals.

Maharashtra won two gold medals one each in men and women category.

For West Bengal individual gold medal winners in the men’s section are Punit Bagrodia (2 gold), Swarndip Shaw, Debagnik Das, Ronit Das, Angshuman Nag, Mirnal Dey, Arindam Biswas.
In women’s section Ritu Banerjee (2 gold), Sushmita Das, Prakriti Kundu, Aheli Saha, Anoushka Das, Hiya Chakravarty, Aiswarjya Gupta, Rupali Malik and Tripti Pal won individual gold medals.

Hosts Delhi wins 5 medals in both men and women category

For Delhi Nicolas Mili won gold in boys B-I Fins 200M Junior ‘C’ and Virat came first in boys B-I Fins 200M Junior ‘E’ category.
Simran Nath won silver in boys B-I Fins 200M Junior ‘D’ category.
Nishta Patle won bronze in girls B-I Fins 400M Junior ‘B’ category.
Enika Agarwal won in girls B-I Fins 200 M Junior B category.

In this championship almost 28 state units and more than 400 districts from Pan India registered for the event and more than 1500 participants are taking part in 186 events and 558 medal positions will be contested in all the age categories in both genders.
