World Malaria Day 2025 Observed in Naharlagun with Theme “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”

Naharlagun (Arunachal Pradesh) : The National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), under the Department of Health Services, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, successfully observed World Malaria Day 2025 at the conference hall of the DHS office in Naharlagun. The event was organized around the theme “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite”, aiming to renew commitment toward malaria elimination.

The program commenced with a warm Welcome Address by Mum Lego, State IEC Consultant, NCVBDC, who emphasized the critical role of community awareness and participation in preventing malaria.

Delivering the keynote message, Dr. K.T. Mulung, Deputy Director of Health Services-cum-State Programme Officer (DDHS-cum-SPO), NCVBDC, shared a major milestone in the state’s public health journey. He proudly announced that 16 out of Arunachal Pradesh’s 27 districts have been declared malaria-free, showcasing the state’s commendable progress in disease control and prevention.

The malaria-free districts are: Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Lower Subansiri, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, Kamle, Upper Subansiri, Dibang Valley, Anjaw, East Siang, Siang, Namsai, Longding, Lower Siang, and Lower Dibang Valley.

Dr. Mulung praised the relentless efforts of health workers, community volunteers, and field staff who have contributed to this success. He reaffirmed the department’s commitment to making Arunachal Pradesh malaria-free by 2027.

A pledge and slogan on malaria elimination was led by Dr. Rikken Rina, Director of Health Services, Government of Arunachal Pradesh. Attendees joined in reaffirming their dedication to the fight against malaria.

The event also featured a short video presentation, highlighting stories of impact and ongoing malaria control efforts.

The observance concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Gopi Basar, Consultant PSCM, NCVBDC, who expressed sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, health officials, and participants for their active involvement and support in making the event a success.
