Turkey Connection Emerges in Delhi Blast Linked to Pakistan

New Delhi: The investigation into the recent Delhi terror blast has now revealed links to both Pakistan and Turkey. According to intelligence agencies, the key suspect Umar Nabi was in continuous contact with his handler based in Ankara, Turkey, whose code name was Ukasa. Sources suggest that both Umar and his handler communicated frequently through an encrypted Session app. Reports indicate that Umar, along with Mujammil, another member of the Faridabad terror module, had traveled to Turkey in 2022.

According to Delhi Police’s Special Cell, Umar Nabi and other suspects from the Faridabad module were in constant touch with their foreign handlers via the Session app. Investigators are now closely examining the chat records between the handlers and the accused on this platform.

The explosion near the Red Fort claimed 12 lives and left over 20 injured. Intelligence sources revealed that Umar Nabi and several others had visited Ankara in March 2022, where they are suspected to have been radicalized and linked with Pakistan-based terror groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed.

During interrogation, it was also found that the group had planned to target crowded areas during Diwali celebrations, but failed to execute the plan. Investigators further uncovered evidence of radicalization through two Telegram groups, one of which was reportedly operated by Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist Umar bin Khattab from Pakistan. The police believe the suspects were plotting an attack similar to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

Police have also seized a red Ford EcoSport registered in the name of Umar Nabi in Faridabad. An officer stated that the vehicle’s registered address in New Seelampur, Delhi, was found to be fake, and that forged documents may have been used for its purchase. Further investigation revealed that Nabi, who worked as an assistant professor at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, had visited a mosque near Ramlila Maidan shortly before the blast that killed 12 people and injured 30.
