After a Hat-Trick of Hindi Films in 2025, Sonam Bajwa to Kick Off 2026 with Big-Ticket Release ‘Border 2’
Mumbai: The year 2025 truly belonged to Sonam Bajwa as the Punjabi cinema superstar successfully made her mark in Hindi films. In her very first year in Bollywood, the actress featured in three major releases—Housefull 5, Baaghi 4, and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. Among these, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat emerged as one of the biggest hits of the year, releasing during Diwali and further cementing Sonam’s growing popularity in Hindi cinema.
Riding high on this success, Sonam Bajwa is now set to carry the momentum into 2026, beginning the year with a massive release. The teaser of Border 2 was recently unveiled, revealing Sonam opposite Diljit Dosanjh in the much-anticipated war drama. This marks her fourth Hindi film and yet another collaboration with top-tier talent, underlining her rising star power in Bollywood.
While 2025 concluded on a high note with Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, the beginning of 2026 promises to be even bigger with Border 2, slated for release in January.
Speaking about her journey and Border 2, Sonam Bajwa said,
“Director Anurag Singh approached me for Border 2. We already share a great working relationship as we’ve collaborated before. Interestingly, Diljit was also part of those films, so our association in Punjab has been quite special.”
She further added,
“In Border 2, I am playing a Punjabi girl named Manjeet, who hails from Ambala and is the wife of Diljit Dosanjh’s character, Flying Officer Nirmaljit Singh Sekhon. Anurag told me that I was the first name that came to his mind for Manjeet’s role, which meant a lot to me. I was extremely excited because the moment I heard that Border 2 was being made, it became a dream project for me.”
Recalling her childhood memories, Sonam shared,
“I’ve lost count of how many times I watched Border on television while growing up. It’s one of my favourite films and holds so many childhood memories for me. Being part of a film like this makes me feel incredibly proud and happy.”
Border 2 is scheduled to release on Republic Day 2026. Along with Sonam Bajwa, the film also stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty and Anya Singh in pivotal roles.
