‘Kashmir: The Unfiltered Truth’ Released, Reflects Present-Day Realities of the Valley

New Delhi: The book Kashmir: The Unfiltered Truth, written by noted author and journalist Bashir Asad, was formally released on Monday in the presence of former External Affairs Minister and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid and RJD Member of Parliament Manoj K. Jha. The book offers an in-depth and evidence-based examination of the current economic, social, and political landscape of Kashmir in the aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370.
The book launch event was held at the India International Centre, New Delhi, and was attended by diplomats from several countries, including Singapore, along with scholars, journalists, and policy observers.
Speaking on the occasion, Salman Khurshid said that the Supreme Court had an opportunity to deliver a more explicit and comprehensive verdict on Kashmir. Advocating the restoration of full statehood to the region instead of a federal administrative arrangement, he praised the book for its factual depth and balanced presentation.

RJD MP Manoj K. Jha remarked that people often say “Kashmir is ours,” whereas the more appropriate expression should be “Kashmiris are ours.” He pointed out that discussions on Kashmir frequently take place across the country, but mostly driven by political objectives rather than genuine concern for the people of the region.
Author Bashir Asad, while speaking about Kashmir: The Unfiltered Truth, said the book encompasses multiple dimensions of the Kashmir issue. He added that the narrative places current developments in context with past governments and also includes a reference to the Pahalgam incident.
Notably, along with Kashmir: The Unfiltered Truth, another fiction work by the author titled House Without Witness was also released. The story of this novel, too, revolves around Kashmir and the essence of Kashmiri identity and culture.
