Shri Divakar Jayant, INAS, Assumes Charge as Director General of Naval Armament

New Delhi : Shri Divakar Jayant, INAS, has taken over as the Director General of Naval Armament (DGONA) at Naval Headquarters, Ministry of Defence, on February 2, 2026. He succeeds Shri P. Upadhyay, who superannuated on January 31, 2026.
A 1991-batch officer of the Indian Naval Armament Service (INAS), Shri Jayant joined the Naval Armament Organisation of the Indian Navy on December 28, 1992. Over a distinguished career spanning 33 years, he has served in several key leadership roles, including Chief General Manager and General Manager/Principal Director at Naval Armament Depots in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, and Alwaye, as well as at Naval Headquarters and the Ministry of Defence.
An Electrical Engineering graduate from IIT Delhi, Shri Jayant specializes in the life-cycle management of torpedoes and has extensive expertise in planning explosive infrastructure projects. He is also well-versed in human resource management and administration. He has completed the prestigious APPPA course during 2017–18.
With his vast operational and administrative experience, Shri Jayant’s appointment is expected to further strengthen the Naval Armament Organisation’s capabilities in support of the Indian Navy’s operational readiness.
