Intruders Will Be Identified and Expelled Once Our Government Is Formed in West Bengal: Amit Shah

Araria (Bihar): Union Minister for Home and Cooperation Amit Shah said that once his party forms the government in West Bengal, every intruder will be identified and expelled from the country.
Addressing personnel of the Sashastra Seema Bal in Araria, Shah inaugurated the Border Out Posts at Leti and Inderwa and also carried out the e-inauguration and e-foundation laying of several SSB infrastructure projects. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, along with senior officials including the Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau and the Director General of SSB were present at the event.
₹170 Crore Projects to Strengthen Border Infrastructure
In his address, Shah said that projects worth around ₹170 crore aimed at improving facilities for SSB personnel were inaugurated and launched. He noted that since 2014, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has implemented a comprehensive and sensitive action plan to enhance facilities for all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs).
He added that several SSB-related projects were inaugurated and foundation stones laid during the event. Under the India–Nepal Border Road Project, a 554-kilometre border road has been approved. Out of 18 segments, work on 14 has already been completed. Of the sanctioned ₹2,468 crore, around ₹2,336 crore has already been spent. Once completed, the road will significantly enhance the surveillance capabilities of SSB personnel along the border.
pic.twitter.com/dgdnspEhEM

Government Determined to Eliminate Infiltration
Shah said the government had promised the people of Bihar during elections that the state would be freed from infiltrators. He emphasized that the government would not only remove infiltrators’ names from voter lists but would identify and deport each illegal entrant from India.
He stressed that freeing the country from illegal infiltration is not merely an electoral promise but a firm resolve of the Modi government. According to him, the campaign will begin with the Seemanchal region.
The Home Minister said infiltrators not only influence elections but also deprive poor citizens of ration benefits and reduce employment opportunities for Indian youth. They also pose a major threat to national security. He added that illegal encroachments within 10 kilometres of the country’s borders will be the first targets of removal under the campaign.
Demographic Changes a Serious Concern
Shah warned that demographic changes caused by illegal infiltration and encroachment can be dangerous for a country’s culture, history and geography. He said the Modi government is committed to finding a permanent solution to this issue.
He noted that states such as West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand are among the most affected by demographic changes due to infiltration. He added that once his party forms the government in West Bengal, completing the border fencing and expelling infiltrators would be among its top priorities.
Role of SSB in Border Security
Shah highlighted the role of the Sashastra Seema Bal in guarding India’s borders. He noted that the force was earlier known as the Special Service Bureau and was responsible for preserving the cultural identity of border villages. During the government of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, SSB was entrusted with the responsibility of guarding the Nepal–Bhutan borders.
In 2001, SSB was assigned the responsibility of securing the 1,751-kilometre-long open India–Nepal border, and since 2004 it has also been responsible for the 699-kilometre India–Bhutan border.
He praised SSB personnel for safeguarding the nation’s borders under extremely challenging conditions and for ensuring the safety and welfare of citizens living in border villages.
Vigilance Against Smuggling and Narcotics
The Home Minister said SSB must remain vigilant not only against infiltration but also against smuggling, narcotics trafficking and other illegal activities along the border. He advised the force to develop a comprehensive Standard Operating Procedure (SoP) to assess and tackle all potential threats.
He also mentioned the Vibrant Villages Programme, through which the Modi government aims to significantly improve infrastructure and living conditions in border villages.
Tribute to Veer Savarkar
Shah also paid tribute to Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on his death anniversary. He said Savarkar was not only a fearless patriot but also a powerful writer whose prose and poetry inspired the spirit of nationalism across the country.
He noted that Savarkar played a crucial role in redefining the Indian Rebellion of 1857 as India’s first war of independence, which helped awaken a nationwide resolve to break the chains of colonial rule.
