Tata Power-DDL Reviews Summer Preparedness, Targets Power Availability up to 2900 MW
New Delhi: Leading power utility Tata Power-DDL, which supplies electricity to nearly 9 million residents in North Delhi, has conducted a comprehensive review meeting with power generators and business partners to strengthen its preparedness for the upcoming summer season (2026).
The company has projected that peak power demand may reach around 2622 MW this year, significantly higher than the 2410 MW recorded in 2025. To meet the rising demand, the utility has made arrangements to ensure power availability of up to 2900 MW.
Focus on Strengthening Supply Chain
Tata Power-DDL has initiated steps to enhance coordination with power generators, key equipment suppliers, service providers, and other stakeholders. The objective is to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential equipment and resources across the entire supply chain.
As part of this effort, a workshop was recently held in New Delhi where power generators and business associates reviewed summer preparedness and discussed strategies to ensure reliable power supply to consumers.
Emphasis on Plant Maintenance and Coordination
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on plant maintenance, particularly the upkeep of critical components such as boilers. The aim is to prevent technical disruptions and maintain continuous power supply during peak summer demand.
Strategies were also deliberated to assess power availability, manage the anticipated surge in demand, and strengthen coordination with generating companies.
Network Management and Quick Restoration Plans
The utility also focused on efficient management of the electrical network within its licensed area and discussed measures for swift restoration in case of any potential faults. System resilience and real-time coordination during high-demand periods were highlighted as key priorities.
The meeting was attended by CEO Dwijadas Basak, senior officials of the utility, representatives of power generating companies, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and partner organizations.

A company spokesperson stated, “Through close coordination with our generation and business partners, we are strengthening our preparedness to ensure uninterrupted and reliable power supply to consumers during the summer months.”

Tata Power-DDL is placing special emphasis on demand management strategies, improved planning, real-time coordination, and strengthening network infrastructure.
The company continues to enhance its operational capabilities and distribution network to efficiently meet the rising power demand during summer and ensure seamless electricity supply to consumers.
